There is a Place

There is a place where fear has to face the God I know!

I heard this song this morning and it was just what my heart needed.  I’ve talked about this on here before but if you are new you can read more about it here. My heart has been a little fearful this past year.

Last year I lost a baby so close to me, a baby in our home daycare and it literally broke me to pieces. I have never imagined going through something like this and as much as I don’t want it to affect me I have days where it hurts too much. Where I can’t even think!

I have given that burden to God, but I would be lying if I said that I have never relived that call. Relived that moment! Relived my first the panic I felt, relived the moment where I felt there wasn’t enough air in the car for me to possibly breath in. Everything hurt, everything shattered at that exact moment!

This New Years Eve came but I came with a freedom I had not experienced in a while.

As I sat in church on Sunday my Pastor preached on fear, isn’t funny how God knows exactly what we need and when. He preached on how we are not to fear, on how we need to let those fears go to be able to not only move ahead but live the way God wants us to live. He talked about something most of us know, yet we lack the capacity to apply it.

The bibble states 366 times ” Do not Fear”. No matter the version or language do not fear is there. Even for leap years.

There, on that stage, I left my fear. I left the fear of letting Bella sleep without me. Without waking up in the middle of the night and checking on her more times than I can count to make sure I saw her breath through her belly.

As it marks the anniversary of my sweet angel’s death, I realized once and for all, God wants more from me. He wants me to trust Him fully, to give Him my all, which includes that fear.

That small fear, OK, that giant fear so it can meet my wonderful, HUGE God!

I will fell on my knees and glorified His name. Because when I’m at my lowest is when He glorifies through me!

This is not to say that my fear has miraculously disappeared but I lean on Him to be my steady ground! Maybe you too, you have fear, whether small or big but just remember the God that stands for us. He has given us the strength to make it through one more day, one more tomorrow and one more the next day!

I lean on Him to be my eyes, to be my strength and to be my all.

So what is your fear today? What has been keeping you down?

I hope you listen to this song and use your “do not fear” for today, remember that tomorrow will have it’s own and so will the next day.

If you wish to do the same please feel free to message me and I’ll pray with you and for you!

Happy New Year- 2018 Goals

Happy New Year Loves!

Hope all of you had a great New Year’s Eve! I’m so excited for the new year! A new year brings so many opportunities, so much hope and in my case so much simplicity. This year I am determined to simplify my life and everything we do.

This past year with the move we realized we have so much stuff, like really how can three people accumulate so much, and with a bigger house we don’t want the opportunity to fill it up and have even more stuff. Instead, we want to simplify our life, only use we what really need and get rid off all the things that fall into any of these categories.

  • I’ll use it when I lose weight
  • Multiple items that are the same
  • I’ll save it because I’ll need it soon
  • I’ll save it just in case

This is probably the biggest goal for this year, and it’s one that will make the rest of them fall quickly and easily into place. After reading this book, I want to clean everything and have my house be perfectly in order. Don’t know how long that will take if I’m being completely honest but a start is a start right?!

This year I want to be the best at home! What exactly does that mean? Well, change starts at home, with your people, your family. You know, the ones that have seen you at your worst and still love you! Yeah, those.

Being the best mom, wife, and daughter I can be. Being the light for them, that way they can radiate wherever they are. Changing the world one prayer at a time and one clean room at a time. (I say this one staring at my mount of clean laundry, at least is clean right)

What are your goals this year? Do you do resolutions?

Indulging and Finding my “Me Time”

This post is sponsored by Greek Gods Seriously Indulgent Yogurt, however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own

Lately, life has been more than busy. I feel like I’m constantly trying to beat every single clock in the world (and losing with every passing hour). It may be the holidays… Or is it just me?!

I’m usually trying to be the perfect mom, the perfect wife, and honestly, the perfect everything; and, 98% of the time, I end up being anything but perfect at everything. It’s funny how most of the times this is a subject in our mom’s chat. We are always trying to figure out how to be better, stronger, and learn how the other one is always doing it better than us!

But here is a reality check: none of us really have it together. No matter how hard we try, how much we work, and how little we sleep, we simply can’t do it by ourselves.

This was the number one lesson I learned when I become a mother. Now, almost 3 years down the road, I still need a reminder! I need to remember that before the mother, before the wife, that I, Claudia, is still here.

The kitchen can be a mess, and while mostly every kitchen around the world is a mess, I need to take care of myself and enjoy the little moments of silence, and to enjoy a hobby I love so much! In my case that’s baking, yet most of the time I don’t eat what I bake. Recently, I’ve been reaching for a single serving of Greek Gods Seriously Indulgent yogurt.

They have four delicious flavors to choose from and can be found in your local Walmart refrigerated section. We used to always have a few of their Honey 32 oz containers and would just add fruit and granola, but now the fruit is in the cup and the size fits perfectly in every purse or diaper bag!

So today I’m forgetting the daily mess, the dishes, the toys, and just about everything and simply choosing to indulge in a cup of this fluffy, thick yogurt with all its deliciousness.

Do you want to join me? Here is how:

5 Tips for Taming Toddler Tantrums

Parenting is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’ve said it many times and gosh as time passes I seem to get worse at it, or does my child get worse? Just kidding is a mix. Totally kidding now! Parenting is hard and if you are a parent I don’t have to tell you that, but you will also agree that is the most rewarding thing you have ever done and will ever do!

Totally kidding now! Parenting is hard and if you are a parent I don’t have to tell you that, but you will also agree that is the most rewarding thing you have ever done and will ever do!

Parenting is hard and if you are a parent I don’t have to tell you that, but you will also agree that is the most rewarding thing you will ever do!

In most things in life with practice you get better but in parenting is different, every child is different and every stage is different.

Before having Bella I read my share of parenting books, I understood it all, or so I thought and was ready to put it in practice when she was born.  was gifted the most precious girl, with a huge heart and a personality just as big. I often joke that she will be a boss wherever she goes, she will dictate an army and still be their best friend, all of this meaning that my child is hard-headed, though I prefer strong-willed, sounds better right?!

And then, I was gifted the most precious girl, with a huge heart and a personality just as big. I often joke that she will be a boss wherever she goes, she will dictate an army and still be their best friend, all of this meaning that my child as hard-headed as they come. Though I prefer strong-willed, sounds better right?!

But if she is “strong-willed”  I’m even worse so it brings out a very ugly side of me which I had to learn to keep in check.

I had to learn that she is only 2, she may act, talk and walk like a teen but she is only 2 years old and there are ways to handle her tantrums without it becoming a battlefield.

I will share a few things that have worked for us but remember every child is different so what worked for me may not work for you.

Learning to deal with a tantrum

  1. First I prayed and prayed a lot. I had to understand I make mistakes and that I had to change first! I also had to realize that I caused more chaos to her chaotic 2 minutes by screaming or telling her she was going to go to time out rather than being the calm in the storm.
  2. Give them time. I’m not going to tell you to count to 10 because that definitely doesn’t work, at least for me. During the tantrum I ignore it, I gently ask her to stop and if she refuses to listen and ignores it I just let it happen. This is her time. Just like we need 5 minutes every once in a while, this is theirs.
  3. Let them explain, if possible. Remember they cant use words to describe what they are feeling. Bella has been talking for a while and will usually be able to tell me what’s going on, so after her “little session” I ask her to use her words to tell me what she wants or doesn’t want.
  4. Do follow through. This has been the biggest changer for us. If I warned her with a timeout and she didn’t do what I asked, after the crying stops and grab her, sit her in time and tell her why.
  5. Lastly, don’t talk too much. Why? Usually, before actually sitting her in time out I would tell her what she should have done and go on and on (and on) about how I wish she had acted (well hello, she is only two) and ended up distracting her from the actual incident.

I hope these tips will help you or at least give you a good belly laugh as I may be doing it all wrong, but this is what has helped us thus far. Welcome home baby basket

“This post is sponsored by Carter’s; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.”

“Thank you, MAM, for partnering with me on this post. As always all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own

This past week we welcomed a new baby cousin, Lucas.  He is the most adorable little boy I have ever seen. I love babies and seeing them those first few hours changes your life forever. Holding what you once felt from the outside it’s just one more miracle from heaven, and it is also the cause of my baby fever!

I remember those first few hours of being a mom, holding my sweet and beautiful child in my hands and never wanting to let go. You can bet I was the mom that slept with the baby in the room. I just wanted to hold her and kiss her. But, those few days were not all very tranquil and beautiful. The first few days were really hard on us so I’ve come up with a welcome home baby basket to help you or all your mama friends!

Without further or due here are the items I put in that basket and I’ll explain along the way why I choose those items!

Welcome Home Basket:

  1. Carter’s bodysuits: One of my first lessons as a  mom was that there was going to be lots and lots of laundry along the way. These bodysuits are amazing, safe as per usual and super soft. (Carter’s is having a sweepstakes, more info at the end of this post) Click here to join the Twitter party!
  2. MAM Pacis and bottle: [Gifted] Here is the story on this one, After being home for a few days Bella was still not sleeping and losing weight, so we were told to had to supplement with formula. We tried and tried all my bottles and all my pacis and nothing worked. After thinking a bit we decided to sanitize a set we had gotten for free at the doctor’s office and Bella drank from them up until she was 4 months old. The shape of both, the paci and bottle of the MAM somehow were closer to my breast than any other and boy was I happy mommy to be able to make daddy a bottle of expressed milk and have him feed her.
  3. Bella B Naturals, butter, and body wash: [Gifted] As much as these are items for babies, I used these on myself still whenever handling a newborn. Many people still forget that they are sensitive and most shower gels are very strong. Plus they make awesome bubbles, per Bella 😉
  4.  A cute decorative cup. I got one very similar to this one to help me hold all of Bella’s pacis. It kept them out of eye and added a special touch to her room!
  5. A handmade anything. If you read a few of my posts you’ll know I’m not a good cook but I can crochet and bake, so I usually tend to pick one of those for my handmade item. Cupcakes or cookies are always welcome for new mamas. For this box, I made a crocheted bonnet! I’m thinking of doing a tutorial for some of my crochet items and adding a few to my Etsy shop for all of us who are always in a hurry!

A few extra tips:

I added a printable that was sent to me by one of my favorite companies Cozy but Etsy usually has a pretty long list of amazing printables!

Remember the basket, the items inside are important but remember the basket will also be used a lot.

Lastly, kiss those baby angels as much as you possibly can.
