Thank You

Hey Mamas!

Happy Tuesday! I’m working hard on posting on here more and this is one of my favorite types of post! Not that I considered myself a fashion blogger, but I love sharing what I wear and the real me. Let’s be honest sometimes we get the blogger title and people think that we spend our days looking fancy and I’m here to tell you otherwise, but something I wear all the time and is definitely my cold weather favorite is black leggings.

No that I have a little, not so little, soccer ball attached I can always rely on Blanqi leggings to save my day and make me look put together. In reality most of the time I feel like I’m wearing PJ and that’s the goal for every pregnant mama.

As for the rest of the look, I love these simple long sleeved from GAP (non-maternity) and Hunter boots. My boots have been one of my biggest splurges but I use them often, so it makes it worth it. On top of that, I love the crochet vest from Thred Up. I’ve posted about Thred Up before, but if you haven’t heard about them, you need to check them out! You can even make some cash by selling them your used clothing items.

They have beautiful pieces with many of them being new with tags.

Check the girls below for daily outfit inspiration and their cold weather favorites.

The Ultimate Baby Registry List

baby registry

I have partnered with BuyBuyBaby for this post, but all opinions are my own.

This post contains affiliate links which helps us keep this blog going!

Thanks for your support

Where and what do you register for?

We all get this question about 2000 times at the end of our pregnancies. Everyone always asks and whether your a first-time mom or an experienced mama we google it all. Google always has the answers right? All thousand of them, many extra and many with little to nothing.

I won’t go into everything that should register for because items like cribs, dressers and changing tables are pretty much self-explanatory but I will share a few items that I believe every mom should have and where exactly to find them.

Nowadays all the stores are doing baby registries, but my only tip for all of us moms is to find a store that suits you. In my case, this meant a store that helped me through the process of becoming a mom of two and basically made my life easier.

I went to BuyBuyBaby and I was very pleased with my experience and the fact that all of my questions and concerned were answered right there and then. On top of that, I was able to edit my registry online and have my husband add a few items he thought were good as well.

I know it may seem like a lot, but my hope with this registry is to make your life as a mom easier.

A travel system: I mentioned this in a previous post but our love for Chicco runs deep. They have affordable pricing, great rated products and they keep our kids very very safe! I trust this brand full heartedly.

Cover: No matter where you live you’ll need a cover. You can get one as big as this one or the one listed if you live somewhere hotter.

Diaper Bag: Diaper Bags are a must. We all love them and have our favorite but for my registry, I usually tend to pick one for daddy. Daddy is always carrying my bag or the car seat (sometimes both) so I love to get something he can feel comfortable carrying around.

Baby Carrier: I wore Bella so much and I can guarantee the same will happen with baby sissy. It’s the best way to get things done around the house. Believe me.

Halo: This is a first-time item for us, we never had it and I remember hurting so bad everytime I had to put Bella down after a feeding. This eliminates the standing up part and bending down. Perfect for C-section mamas.

Rock-and-play: After having a home daycare for years, this is the one product I can’t live without.

Mattress: The list of a mattress is pretty extensive everywhere you go. The reason we picked this one for baby sissy is that its a breathable mattress. A must in my books.

Mattress Pad Cover: You cannot forget this. accidents will happen and its very important to have your mattress dry!

Sound machine: Bella still sleeps with her white noise sounds machine, we secretly love it too.

Swaddle Blankets/ Swaddlers:  I love a thin blanket, think again about something breathable

Bottles: In this section, you’ll see two different types of bottles. Find one that assimilates your breast, and do not open them all and wash them! Some babies are very picky and you’ll end up with tons of bottles you may never use. We will be trying Como Tomo for the first time. We used the Playtex drop-ins with Bella so we will see with sissy.

Bottle Warmer: This one is a thermos on the go and it’s amazing!

Burp Cloths: It may be an easily forgotten item but you’ll need close to 6 of these.

Pump: Madela Style Pump. We have this pump and love it!

Storage Bags: A must if you are storing milk when you go back to work.

Cleaning Bags: I don’t remember just how many times we used our cleaning bags. So easy and everything can be cleaned at once. These are also good to sanitize pacis and bottle nipples.

Haakaa Suction cup: First time on this one too. This catches your milk from the other breast while you breastfeed in the other.

I mentioned this on IG stories before but Pampers is our go-to brand for diapers and wipes!

Changing pad liners: Again accidents happen and a small newborn has so many.

Oxi Clean: Enough Said!

Must Haves

Do not touch cushion: People love new babies but babies don’t love their germs. I love this and used it so much with Bella.

Carter’s Long-Sleeved onesies: My absolute favorites. Good for anything and everything

Halo Liner: I honestly believe you should have a waterproof liner for everything.

Nose Frida: I cannot express how much you’ll use this. Forget about all the electric ones. This is probably one of the best-made products out there.

Mittens: Any would be great, but those forget these. Most babies are born with long sharp nails. Your chest and their face will thank me.

Thermometer: We had another one when Bella was born and ended up falling in love with how easy and fast this one is, and the refills.

Levana: Just like the breathable mattress, this is for peace of mind. We had this one with Bella and it saved me a lot of sleep. It also scared us a few times but I preferred to get a false alarm than nothing.

Cameras: We will be upgrading our system but are not exactly sure which one to pick. Great thing that Buy Buy Baby has the biggest selection I’ve seen.

Dock-a-tot: Ask for this item. You need to believe me. It’s worth it 1000%. We didnt have this when Bella was born but got it when she was a bit older and it helped a lot. I will be sharing another post about this. It’s that good! I’ve recommended to many that skipped it and then later bought it themselves.

Dreft Pen: I bought this for the first time a while ago and it’s a lifesaver.

Wash Cloths: Find your favorite. Something soft and durable. The ladies at Buy Buy Baby recommend these so much.

Tub Support: The girls will most likely be taking a bath together once I’m able to bend down a bit more so this will be perfect.

Blooming Flower: This may not be for everyone, my husband hates it, but I loved it. As a C-section mama, it was heaven sent!

Robe/ Towels: I’m a fan of robes honestly! I love them. Check some of their towels here.

This section is pretty small, because I think you, as the mama, will be your baby’s biggest soother, but a paci always helps.

Just like bottles, don’t open them all. Open one of each and try them little by little.

About the Store

This is a very long post as is but I wanted to take the time to actually write about the store. As I’ve mentioned above, many people skip the stores now and just do any big brand store or online. I understand, but I will tell you that my experience with Buy Buy Baby was amazing. I honestly never thought I would love it as much! The attention, the help and more than anything the number of choices you have is over the top.

I’m a very visual person and being able to see it online and drive to the store  and see it, was just a plus, and last but not least if you are anything like me, more often than not I’m running to the store the morning of a shower and they have everything in stock, with easy returns and free shipping.

Hope you enjoyed this post and feel free to email me if you have any questions.

The one Thing you Need to Know about You Car Seat

When we first became parents we researched a lot, and of course, worried a lot as well.

We worried about bringing a sweet girl home when we knew nothing about being parents, we worried about her everything and that included what car seat brand would we use. After much researched we landed and stayed, almost 4 years later, with Chicco.

They had great ratings and was picked the best car seat many times over the years, aside from it being just what we were needing budget wise.

Lester and I bought their Key Fit Travel system that came with a huge stroller, back in 2015, and registered for everything we needed after that. We even added their which was amazing.

Then came Bella, she hated the car seat.  She would cry as soon as we put her in and cried until we took her out. This lead to me crying as well everytime I had to drive solo, because of hormones, but as parents, we both were happy with our choice. Security first!

Fast forward to her one year mark, we wanted her out of the infant car seat, but she was on the smaller side and didn’t meet the weight in many of the other car seats. A few months later were introduced to the NextFit Convertible iX (shown below) Zip which allowed her to use it and we had a normal car ride for the first time in many months. The weight minimum is 5lbs (rear facing) and the maximum is 65 lbs forward facing.

She loved it! She looked at everything and didn’t cry whatsoever. Once she was a little bit over two we switched her to forward facing and she was in heaven.

In October 1st 2017 around 7:30 pm Bella and I were coming home from church like every regular Sunday, with the exception that Lester had left a bit earlier that day. On our way home we were hit by a driver getting out of a gas station. I was driving around 45 miles per hour heading west, had just passed a green light and out of nowhere the other driver crossed the lanes going east and proceeded to get into my lane. He did not see me, or that’s what I choose to think. He hit the driver’s side, right at my door, the side Bella was on as well, and from the impact, my car was thrown to the ditch right beside the road.

I still remember how load Bella cried, I remember thinking the end of the ditch is coming, there was a huge cement patch coming and I had to get out. I remember her screaming for it to stop, while I tried my best to control the car and get out of the ditch.

God is great and He protected us through the whole thing and once we were on steady ground I was able to kick my door open and check on Bella.

Her car seat had snapped off one of the seatbelts and was on its side, but she was safely buckled in her car seat and was completely fine. She did encounter a few other issues, but nothing a quick shower couldn’t fix.

I was in so much pain that I was unable to stand her car seat up or even get her out of the car seat or the car. God sent a young man that was able to help us and took Bella out and handed her to me while we waited for daddy, the ambulance and police.  It was a pretty close match to the worst day of my life. When Lester got there all I could do was cry…

After that evening, I could hardly move my neck, raise my arms and let alone move my left leg. I was in therapy for close to a year doing treatment after treatment and still to this day my neck has it very very bad days.

Bella walked off without a single scratch, we took her to her doctor and she was perfectly fine. It’s all God’s grace. We could have been killed or hurt very badly but He managed a way to take care of us.

Where am I going with all of this?

Buckling your child correctly is so important. Checking expiration dates on those same car seats can save lives. There is a big reason car seats were made, don’t ignore it. I honestly believe one of the reasons Bella was not hurt, aside from God’s protection, is the fact that she was buckled correctly and that her car seat protected her neck, head and pretty much every single part of her body! For that exact reason, I am proud to say that baby sissy will also have all Chicco.

This post is not sponsored by Chicco. I was sent a new car seat once I shared my story with them but as promised a few months ago I wanted to share with all of you as well.  Many times we prepared ourselves and drive carefully but, we cannot drive for everyone around us. We are careful, pray and mind our lane but the next person may not be as careful so it goes without saying that taking every step to take care of our little ones is more than important.

Easy Coffee Tres Leches

#NestleTraditionallyUnited #CollectiveBias

If there is something I love, it is making dessert, as many of you already know! Cooking takes a little more effort but there’s something about making a dessert that takes me to my happy place. Now, being pregnant and cooking is another thing, whether making dessert or not, so I’ve come up with a few shortcuts to make the things I love on little time. Great for the holidays, right!?  Today I want to re-create one of my family’s favorites, one that they have been asking for a while, my coffee tres leches. In Cuba, we don’t have tres leches or condensed milk but both have been favorites since coming to the US. Making the actual cake for this recipe is one of the longest processes since it can’t be done on a stand mixer and must be done by hand, but this mama has figured out a way to skip a little of the process and enjoy a delicious cake around loved ones. Maybe this is why I love postres (desserts) so much, it brings our family around the table, eating something sweet paired with a delicious cup of coffee or hot chocolate. So are you ready for an easy and fast postre?

Here is what you need: 1 can of NESTLÉ® LA LECHERA® Sweetened Condensed Milk,  1 can of evaporated milk,  6oz of your favorite coffee, 1 small carton of heavy whipping cream, your choice of cake. *On this I have used regular store bought pound cake, pound cake, or if you have time you can use a homemade cake* All of these ingredients can be found at your local Walmart!

Once you have the actual cake the process is pretty easy. Mix NESTLÉ® LA LECHERA® Sweetened Condensed milk, evaporated milk, whipping cream and coffee of your choice. Let this sit for about 20 mins allowing the coffee to give its flavor. While the 3 types of milk sit, poke holes in your cake to allow for max absorption. This is what makes the cake deliciously moist. Pour the milk mix into the cake pan and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. You can do this while you finish getting ready or melting some NESTLÉ® ABUELITA® for un chocolatico con leche. (hot cocoa) To top of your cake take out your hand mixer or stand mixer and whip out the whipping cream and spread over your cake. If you want to make it a little fancy add a few chocolate shavings to top your delicious cake. Now to the eating part! Of course, baby girl’s favorite part, if you know what I mean. Sitting with my people, enjoying a delicious Tres Leches cake with coffee or hot cocoa.

This is what the holidays mean to me. Spending time with mi familia, the people that make me smile and make my heart beat a little faster. Now you tell me, what is your favorite dessert or shortcut? Want to try make it for your loved ones? Here is all you need!
