Raw Mama Moments!

Hey Gals!

Welcome to our new blog series, Raw Mama Moments!

A few months ago I found myself in the middle of the terrible twos and without a clue of what to do. After talking it over with a fellow mama friend, we decided to come up with this series where we throw the mama shame out the window. Lately, our world has been full of judgment and our goal is to stop it here! We all have bad days, and talking about them doesn’t make us bad moms, on the contrary, what we learn on the bad days can help other moms who are going through the same thing.

My Side

Motherhood is the best gift and I’m in love with this stage of life, some parts are better than others just like some are easier or harder. So, here we are. Feel free to join us over on Instagram and share your thoughts on each month subject and what you are going through! And of course, check out all the other super mamas in this series!

I honestly want to share about our little tantrum diva, and her need to have a tantrum when we are taking pictures and then today happened!! Today, Bella had two tantrums which are 2 more than what I needed. She refused to listen and went on her way ignoring all my request!

This always leads me to raise my voice and every once in a while become the annoying mom that spanks! (sorry not sorry) I won’t go on into the spanking subject but it is one of the ways we discipline in our home.

We honestly try a few other routes before we put her in timeout or spank but girlfriend sometimes will not listen to warnings. One thing that’s very important to us, is that we never, never call her any names or put controlling words in our mouth! Controlling words to us are words that will tie her down. We believe the tongue has such great power so we refuse to tell her things like

“you never listen”

“you always misbehave”

“you are being bad”

We cut those out and it’s probably the only tip you’ll find in this post. :))

Now, as smart and witty as our kids are we have to remember they are just that, kids.

On a car ride a few days ago Bella was trying to tell us a story and all the sudden she sighs after trying several times to use a word to explain her feelings. I have kept that image in my head and I try my best to remember that when the tantrum hits. My daughter is a great girl, well behaved and smart as can be but she is a toddler. A toddler that has more words that most kids her age but none the less a pretty little girl who is not yet 3. Who sometimes cannot find the words to express her anger or the way she feels.

Is in no way or form an excuse to let her have as many tantrums as wants to have but it helps me keep it balanced and be a little more understanding and I hope it does for you too. I hope you can take a little of this and enjoy a few of the other mom blogs!
