Our First Home and Moving towards a New Dream

We moved!!! We packed up 1744358495 boxes and moved our whole life 5 miles down the street. :D.

Let me explain!

We purchased our first home on November 18, 2011, and it was our dream home.

It was everything we hope, wanted and dreamt off. It was more than we imagined we would be able to get but as always, God worked wonders and we got the big house, as we referred to it back then.

We loved it! I remember going to see it every day before it was finally ready. Taking tons of pictures of the process and just finding joy over an electrical outlet or sheetrock. As the years passed we made it our own changing so much from it. We changed the floors, countertops, painted it like 3 times and added our very special details to it.

A few years later we brought Bella to that home. A home that had her perfect room, with her perfect window seat, I cant tell you how many times I dreamt of her sitting in that window seat.I dreamt of fi finally having a crib in that room too many times to count and God answered. That house was filled with joy and lots of baby cries, and then high pitched screams, if you know Bella you know exactly what I mean!

Fast forward 4 years to the day I told Lester I wanted to move.

This was not something I took lightly, and he didn’t take it well, and to be honest I remember even arguing about it. But here is the thing, when you get married there are rules and standards that the Bible teaches you, one of them being the husband is the head of the home. Indeed my husband was and is the head of our home so I had to respect his decision and understood that the financial plan he had prayed for our family did not involve buying a new home when we had more than enough space at ours.

A year passed and I was rocking Bella to sleep and I received an email from Zillow (what!) and decided to check out the homes for sale in our area. Why not? We had been watching Fixer Upper like crazy and what is one to do?! 😀

And, I saw 2 beautiful homes and 1 that was way out of the price budget I had set up in my head, remember we didn’t have one, we were not selling, but sometimes God has the perfect plan for us without us knowing it.

We may not know it yet but He is always at work, and this was our case.

I sent the links to my husband and mentioned how “cute” the houses were and left it at that. On his way home he sent me a video and guess what? The video was from the houses I had sent him. They were all so close to his work and convenient enough for my friends to drop off her kids too.  He was hooked. He loved them all! But most of all we both fell in love with the one house we couldn’t afford. Doesn’t that always happen?!

But yet again, My God is so much bigger than a budget. And since I don’t want to overwhelm you with huge post check back tomorrow for the details and pictures of that way out of budget home!

Getting Ready the Mom Way!

“This post is sponsored by Everpro Gray Away. All of the thoughts and opinions are my own”

Raise your hand if you have ever put your makeup on in the car?

I bet most of you have your hand up. It’s just one of the things that us busy women do. We spend our days running around and solving everyone’s problems… and then we put ourselves last! Most of the time my daughter looks better than me! Last week I posted about taking time for ourselves, but as a mom my “me time” includes eating what I love, watching Hallmark movies, and getting all dolled up.

I don’t always have the time to do it all, but I do try to always look presentable and feel good about myself. It just makes me feel amazing, feeling like I can do it all. It may be an illusion, but who’s counting?

There are a few things that I don’t go without, such as nails and eyelashes. Something about those two just completes it for me. I don’t know if it’s the fact that it saves time, but my nails will look good for up to 3 weeks. And, with eyelashes, I get to wear less makeup and get away with it. That just leaves me with the last piece of the beauty puzzle: my hair!

To be honest, I only color it when my gray hairs are showing, which, unfortunately for me, started happening at the age of 19.

And then I found this….

Gray Away!

Is the next best thing to dry shampoo and all of us moms, or just busy boss girls, should own it.

I recorded a quick video to show you all my routine and how fast I hide those pesky silver strand until it’s time (or until I have time) to color my hair again!

I hope you love it as much as I do!

For the Hibernating mama

The weather has made a turn for the worst down here and it’s pretty close to freezing all time, which means this mama is hibernating! My Cuban blood freezes in the high 50s!  So if we can possible cancel today, well the rest of the week, I would be just so happy! But, guess what? That’s not happening anytime soon.

We still need to work, cook, do groceries and clean, so I have figured it out to how to at least complete one of my duties from the comfiness and warmth of my sweet bed!

That’s shopping!

Ok I know we all know how to shop online and make our husbands mad if you know what I mean, but let me show you a trick! You can actually get things for your pantry without ever having to leave your home and save!

I buy so much stuff from Walmart like this and these but I never thought of buying these and paying less, I mean way less than at the grocery store!

I made the purchase and received it just in time for my cleaning day and was able to get my kitchen cleaned before the weekend and show off our newly remodeled kitchen.

The process was super easy and everything got done while I was drinking some hot chocolate wrapped in this cute blanket!

Just a few coupons to make your shopping sweeter:

Kleenex.

Indulging and Finding my “Me Time”

This post is sponsored by Greek Gods Seriously Indulgent Yogurt, however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own

Lately, life has been more than busy. I feel like I’m constantly trying to beat every single clock in the world (and losing with every passing hour). It may be the holidays… Or is it just me?!

I’m usually trying to be the perfect mom, the perfect wife, and honestly, the perfect everything; and, 98% of the time, I end up being anything but perfect at everything. It’s funny how most of the times this is a subject in our mom’s chat. We are always trying to figure out how to be better, stronger, and learn how the other one is always doing it better than us!

But here is a reality check: none of us really have it together. No matter how hard we try, how much we work, and how little we sleep, we simply can’t do it by ourselves.

This was the number one lesson I learned when I become a mother. Now, almost 3 years down the road, I still need a reminder! I need to remember that before the mother, before the wife, that I, Claudia, is still here.

The kitchen can be a mess, and while mostly every kitchen around the world is a mess, I need to take care of myself and enjoy the little moments of silence, and to enjoy a hobby I love so much! In my case that’s baking, yet most of the time I don’t eat what I bake. Recently, I’ve been reaching for a single serving of Greek Gods Seriously Indulgent yogurt.

They have four delicious flavors to choose from and can be found in your local Walmart refrigerated section. We used to always have a few of their Honey 32 oz containers and would just add fruit and granola, but now the fruit is in the cup and the size fits perfectly in every purse or diaper bag!

So today I’m forgetting the daily mess, the dishes, the toys, and just about everything and simply choosing to indulge in a cup of this fluffy, thick yogurt with all its deliciousness.
